The Limited Stay Visa, also known as ITAS (Izin Tinggal Terbatas), is Indonesia’s long-term visa category designed for foreigners who want to live, work, invest, or join family in Indonesia.
In 2025, the Minister of Immigration and Rehabilitation Centers of the Republic of Indonesia issued a Decree Number M.IP-08.GR.01.01 Year 2025 Concerning Visa Classification dated May 2nd, 2025, has refined the E23 to E35 visa indexes to accommodate diverse residency scenarios including employment, investment, family unification, and religious or humanitarian missions. Each index comes with its own eligibility, permitted activities, and sponsor requirements.
What is a Limited Stay Visa (ITAS)?
An ITAS is a long-term stay permit granted initially for 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, or 5 years depending on the visa type and sponsor. It must be sponsored by an eligible Indonesian company, organization, or family member.
Holders of an ITAS can:
- Live in Indonesia legally
- Apply for NPWP (tax ID), bank accounts, and driver’s license
- Buy Vehicles (car or motorbike)
- Work or conduct business (if permitted by the visa type)
- Bring dependents (under applicable indexes)

Who Should Apply for an ITAS?

- Provide proof of pension or financial deposit to show self-sufficiency.
- Rent or own a residence that complies with local regulations.
